Alissa,

I have to be honest. I haven't tried that and am not sure what happens if you set a Counter eVar multiple times before sending an image request. I would either do some testing or ask @OmnitureCare...

Hey Adam, found this post while looking for a similar solution expect with radio button clicks. I need to measure how many times a user interacted with a page (allows them to customize a flash image of a product). To avoid sending a request to Omniture to add 1 to the counter after every click, can I get the same results by keeping the count in a javascript variable and adding that result after they click a submit button?

Narbeh,

Interesting question. The way I described it here is session independent. You don't know if they viewed one page in one session and ten in another, but can see the total of eleven prior to the success event taking place. To get sessions into the mix, you just need to pass Visit Number to a custom eVar (see this post: http://www.the-omni-man.com/sitecatalyst/adamgreco/2009/08/10/classifying-out-of-the-box-reports/). The issue you will run into is that you will need Full Subrelations on one of these and even then, you can only break success events by these two eVars (since SiteCatalyst only lets you do two levels of breakdowns). However, it may meet your needs and if you have Discover, you can do unlimited breakdowns...

Great post :)

Answers perfectly what i wanted to set up. One thing I would like to know, the event that I want to set it at, it would mean it may be session dependent.

With that in mind, would I be able to get a date stamp to work out number of sessions to go with the volume of pages consumed up to the point of the event occurring?

cheers
