Another great post! Keep them coming... :)

I was wondering what would be the best way to get a count of unique visitors ids for a specific success event?

I need the functionality of Unique Visitors for a specific page, but just in that specific case, I need it based on my own Visitor Id and not the Omniture's visitor id.

Thanks...

Its also worth mentioning that this feature works on classifications of evars. This makes it really useful when you are trying to segment more complex behaviours on site for re-marketing.

Please see Ben's comment. I will try to make this more clear since it is causing confusion (I blame Omniture for naming it that way!)

You say: "The first step is to tell SiteCatalyst which eVar you are going to use to store your Unique Visitor IDs (note that this is not the same as replacing Omniture’s Visitor ID in your js file for the techies reading this!)."

Will adding this eVar setting affect how Site Catalyst treats unique visitors from this point forward or is this completely separate. For example, we have more than just email users... we don't want to have our visitor metric changed sitewide to only look at Email Unique IDs...

Thanks,

Brad

Thanks Ben...I put in a quick disclaimer, but your additional information is awesome! Perhaps you can do a blog post on using your own s.visitorID?

It's important to note here that using an eVar in this manner has no effect whatsoever on unique visitor measurement in other reports. Passing your own unique visitor ID into a variable (other than s.visitorID) does not replace the s_vi cookie or any other aspect of SiteCatalyst unique visitor measurement. This means that there may not always be a 1:1 relationship between the values in the eVar and the number of unique visitors (daily, weekly, monthly, etc.) reported elsewhere in SiteCatalyst, and this is okay as long as the user understands that these values come from difference places, so to speak.
